Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 1.41%

The Nifty Auto index closed 1.41 per cent down at 12946.45.

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a negative note on Friday.

Shares of Sona BLW Precision Forgings(up 0.53 per cent), Ashok Leyland(up 0.44 per cent), Eicher Motors(up 0.37 per cent), Bajaj Auto(up 0.34 per cent) and TIINDIA(up 0.17 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Tata Motors(down 2.85 per cent), Hero MotoCorp(down 2.39 per cent), Balkrishna Industries(down 2.15 per cent), Maruti Suzuki(down 1.89 per cent) and Bharat Forge(down 1.86 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.


The Nifty Auto index closed 1.41 per cent down at 12946.45.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 198.05 points at 17758.45, while the BSE Sensex stood down 651.85 points at 59646.15.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 6 ended in the green, while 44 closed in the red.

Shares of Zomato Ltd., YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, Tata Steel and JP Power were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Sumit Woods, Indo Amines, Sarthak Metals, NDTV and AMD Industries hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Agni Green Power Ltd., MITCON Const & Engg., Future Enterprises, Swaraj Suiting Ltd. and D K Enterprises Global Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week lows.
