Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 1.04%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a negative note on Wednesday.

Shares of TVS Motor Company(up 1.22 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Balkrishna Industries(down 3.22 per cent), TIINDIA(down 3.1 per cent), Hero MotoCorp(down 1.6 per cent), Amara Raja Batteries(down 1.49 per cent) and Mahindra & Mahindra(down 1.45 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.


The Nifty Auto index closed 1.04 per cent down at 11401.2.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 59.75 points at 17829.2, while the BSE Sensex stood down 257.14 points at 59771.92.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 22 ended in the green, while 28 closed in the red.

Shares of SBI, Vodafone Idea, Bank of Baroda, PNB and YES Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Barbeque-Nation Hospitality Ltd., Digjam L, Shiva Mills, Sobha and Sarla Perform hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Airo Lam, Hathway Cable, RPP Infra Proj(PP), Kotyark Industries Ltd. and Quadpro ITeS Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week lows.
