Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 0.94%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a negative note on Wednesday.
Shares of Balkrishna Industries(up 4.55 per cent), TIINDIA(up 0.81 per cent), MRF(up 0.58 per cent) and Bajaj Auto(up 0.22 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Sona BLW Precision Forgings(down 3.13 per cent), Bosch(down 2.28 per cent), Tata Motors(down 2.06 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra(down 1.95 per cent) and Hero MotoCorp(down 1.6 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Auto index closed 0.94 per cent down at 11011.5.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 99.35 points at 16025.8, while the BSE Sensex stood down 303.35 points at 53749.26.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 19 ended in the green, while 31 closed in the red.
Shares of Zomato Ltd., Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, SAIL and JP Power were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Reliance Chemo, Accuracy Shipping, Empyrean Cashews Ltd., Shanti Overseas(Ind and Kohinoor Foods hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Birla Tyres, TV Today Network, Debock Sales & Mktg, Sadbhav Eng and RS Software hit their fresh 52-week lows.
