Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 0.89%

The Nifty Auto index closed 0.89 per cent down at 12345.55.

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a negative note on Tuesday.

Shares of Sona BLW Precision Forgings(up 6.2 per cent), Bosch(up 0.2 per cent) and TIINDIA(up 0.04 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Mahindra & Mahindra(down 2.74 per cent), Ashok Leyland(down 1.56 per cent), Tata Motors(down 1.36 per cent), Samvardhana Motherson International(down 1.25 per cent) and Bharat Forge(down 1.07 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.


The Nifty Auto index closed 0.89 per cent down at 12345.55.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 111.0 points at 17043.3, while the BSE Sensex stood down 337.66 points at 57900.19.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 11 ended in the green, while 39 closed in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, PNB, Zomato Ltd. and Suzlon Energy were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Zen Tech, Binani Ind, AB Infrabuild, Hariom Pipe Industries Ltd. and Tarmat Ltd hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Arham Technologies Ltd., Agarwal Float Glass India Ltd., KN Agri Resources Ltd., Allied Digital and Rama Phosphates hit their fresh 52-week lows.
