Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 0.8% in a weak market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index traded negative around 10:19AM(IST)on Monday in a weak market.

Escorts Kubota(up 2.56 per cent) and Maruti Suzuki(up 0.52 per cent) were among the top gainers.

Tata Motors(down 2.39 per cent), Balkrishna Industries(down 2.32 per cent), Eicher Motors(down 2.24 per cent), Bharat Forge(down 1.91 per cent) and Sona BLW Precision Forgings(down 1.77 per cent) were the top losers on the index.


The Nifty Auto index was down 0.8 per cent at 12825.4 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 238.15 points at 17320.75, while the BSE Sensex was down 789.36 points at 58044.51.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 8 were trading in the green, while 42 were in the red.

Shares of Zomato Ltd., Suzlon Energy, YES Bank, Reliance Power and BHEL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Kritika Wires, Lokesh Machines, JIK Industries, Mazagon Dock Ship and Ram Ratna Wire hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Jindal Cotex, Bombay Rayon, GVK Power Infra, MBL Infra and Birlasoft hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
