Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 0.75%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a negative note on Tuesday.

Shares of Bharat Forge Ltd.(up 1.16 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Tube Investments of India Ltd.(down 1.77 per cent), Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(down 1.74 per cent), Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd.(down 1.63 per cent), TVS Motor Company Ltd.(down 1.54 per cent) and Eicher Motors Ltd.(down 1.12 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.


The Nifty Auto index closed 0.75 per cent down at 17932.7.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 34.45 points at 21453.1, while the BSE Sensex stood up 122.1 points at 71437.19.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 24 ended in the green, while 26 closed in the red.

Shares of Indian Railway Fin, YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, Reliance Power and IOB were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Bajel Projects, Times Guaranty, United Drilling, Vertoz Advertising and Greenply Inds hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Vaxtex Cotfab, Bohra Industries, Raj Rayon, SEL Manufact and GIR Natureview hit their fresh 52-week lows.
