Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 0.74%
The Nifty Auto index closed 0.74 per cent down at 22407.45.

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a negative note on Wednesday.
Shares of Ashok Leyland Ltd.(up 7.68 per cent), Tata Motors Ltd.(up 0.98 per cent), Exide Industries Ltd.(up 0.78 per cent), MRF Ltd.(up 0.63 per cent) and Bosch Ltd.(up 0.62 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(down 3.2 per cent), Eicher Motors Ltd.(down 2.48 per cent), Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(down 1.71 per cent), Apollo Tyres Ltd.(down 1.14 per cent) and Bharat Forge Ltd.(down 0.69 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Auto index closed 0.74 per cent down at 22407.45.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 26.55 points at 23045.25, while the BSE Sensex stood down 122.52 points at 76171.08.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 26 ended in the green, while 24 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, Zomato, YES Bank, Suzlon Energy and SAIL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Vimta Labs, Mahamaya Steel, Norben Tea Exp, Aarvee Denims and Dr. Agarwals Health hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while DB Corp., Generic Engg, Gensol Engg, Prince Pipes and Delta Manufacturing hit their fresh 52-week lows.
