Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 0.61%

Nagaraj Shetti, Technical Research Analyst at HDFC Securities, believes Monday's pattern could be considered as a High Wave, which reflects high volatility in the market at swing highs.
NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a negative note on Friday.

Shares of Sona BLW Precision Forgings Ltd.(up 4.35 per cent), Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd.(up 1.31 per cent), Bajaj Auto Ltd.(up 0.66 per cent), Tata Motors Ltd.(up 0.5 per cent) and Bosch Ltd.(up 0.19 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.(down 3.29 per cent), TVS Motor Company Ltd.(down 2.42 per cent), Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(down 1.21 per cent), Tube Investments of India Ltd.(down 1.18 per cent) and Balkrishna Industries Ltd.(down 1.08 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.


The Nifty Auto index closed 0.61 per cent down at 21851.3.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 234.4 points at 22519.4, while the BSE Sensex stood down 793.25 points at 74244.9.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 7 ended in the green, while 43 closed in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, SAIL, Reliance Power and BEL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Krystal Integrated, Nandan Denim, D P Abhushan, Yuken India and Puravankara hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Sinclairs Hotel, Best Agrolife, HUL, Dabur India and MEP Infrastructure hit their fresh 52-week lows.
