Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 0.59%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a negative note on Friday.
Shares of Amara Raja Batteries(up 2.53 per cent), Bharat Forge(up 1.38 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra(up 1.35 per cent), Exide Industries(up 0.98 per cent) and MRF(up 0.87 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, TVS Motor Company(down 4.43 per cent), Maruti Suzuki(down 3.05 per cent), Hero MotoCorp(down 1.58 per cent), Eicher Motors(down 1.24 per cent) and TIINDIA(down 1.03 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Auto index closed 0.59 per cent down at 11493.4.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 8.2 points at 17101.95, while the BSE Sensex stood down 76.71 points at 57200.23.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 30 ended in the green, while 20 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, PNB, Suzlon Energy, YES Bank and JP Power were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Dynacons Sys, Orient Bell, Timescan Logistics(India)Ltd., Lotus Eye Hosp and Guj Mineral Dev. hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Kriti Ind, Vaibhav Global, Balaxi Pharma, Hind Nat Glass and Dynamic Services & Security Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week lows.
