Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 0.48%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a negative note on Friday.
Shares of Bharat Forge(up 1.55 per cent), Sona BLW Precision Forgings(up 1.17 per cent), Tata Motors(up 0.79 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra(up 0.38 per cent) and Bajaj Auto(up 0.37 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, TIINDIA(down 4.4 per cent), Eicher Motors(down 2.0 per cent), Maruti Suzuki(down 1.43 per cent), Samvardhana Motherson International(down 1.02 per cent) and Balkrishna Industries(down 0.89 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Auto index closed 0.48 per cent down at 12245.95.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 114.45 points at 17100.05, while the BSE Sensex stood up 355.06 points at 57989.9.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 37 ended in the green, while 13 closed in the red.
Shares of YES Bank, Zomato Ltd., Vodafone Idea, NALCO and FSN E-Comm(Nykaa)were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Tarmat Ltd, Zen Tech, KPIT Tech, Sona Hi Sona Jewell and W S Industries hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Kridhan Infra, Biocon, Future Consumer, Ballarpur Inds. and Mega Flex Plastics Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week lows.
