Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 0.45%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a negative note on Friday.
Shares of MRF(up 1.35 per cent), Samvardhana Motherson International(up 0.99 per cent), Sona BLW Precision Forgings(up 0.9 per cent), TVS Motor Company(up 0.75 per cent) and Tata Motors(up 0.46 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Hero MotoCorp(down 2.21 per cent), Eicher Motors(down 2.08 per cent), Bajaj Auto(down 1.19 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra(down 0.75 per cent) and TIINDIA(down 0.6 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Auto index closed 0.45 per cent down at 14626.0.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 71.15 points at 18563.4, while the BSE Sensex stood down 223.01 points at 62625.63.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 15 ended in the green, while 34 closed in the red.
Shares of Suzlon Energy, Indian Energy Exchg, YES Bank, Vodafone Idea and Reliance Power were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Greenlam Ind, Dynamic Cables, Jindal Drilling, Federal Mogul and V-Marc India hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Indian Energy Exchg, Rachana Infrastructu, Infollion Research, Parin Furniture and Future Supply Chain hit their fresh 52-week lows.
