Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 0.28%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a negative note on Thursday.

Shares of TIINDIA(up 0.66 per cent), Tata Motors(up 0.62 per cent), Eicher Motors(up 0.38 per cent) and Mahindra & Mahindra(up 0.02 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Escorts Kubota(down 4.02 per cent), Bharat Forge(down 2.14 per cent), Ashok Leyland(down 1.31 per cent), Balkrishna Industries(down 0.94 per cent) and TVS Motor Company(down 0.93 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.


The Nifty Auto index closed 0.28 per cent down at 12562.75.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 109.25 points at 17014.35, while the BSE Sensex stood down 390.58 points at 57235.33.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 16 ended in the green, while 34 closed in the red.

Shares of Suzlon Energy, Vodafone Idea, Zomato Ltd., JP Power and Wipro were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Hindcon Chemicals, Pennar Ind, Rites, Zenith Exports and Liberty Shoes hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while JBF Industries, Wipro, Technocraft Ind, Annapurna Swadisht Ltd. and Vaxtex Cotfab hit their fresh 52-week lows.
