Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 0.18%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a negative note on Friday.
Shares of Ashok Leyland(up 2.01 per cent), TVS Motor Company(up 0.94 per cent), Maruti Suzuki(up 0.87 per cent), Bharat Forge(up 0.45 per cent) and MRF(up 0.4 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Mahindra & Mahindra(down 1.44 per cent), Eicher Motors(down 0.93 per cent), Hero MotoCorp(down 0.8 per cent), TIINDIA(down 0.67 per cent) and Sona BLW Precision Forgings(down 0.56 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Auto index closed 0.18 per cent down at 12761.95.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 17.15 points at 17314.65, while the BSE Sensex stood down 30.81 points at 58191.29.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 21 ended in the green, while 29 closed in the red.
Shares of Zomato Ltd., Vodafone Idea, JP Power, Suzlon Energy and Shree Ren Sug were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Max Ventures Ind, Sabar Flex India Ltd., HBL Power, Universal Cable and Indian Terrain hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Sigma Solve, Viviana Power Tech Ltd., Tips Films Ltd., Kandarp Digi Smart BPO Ltd. and Debock Sales & Mktg hit their fresh 52-week lows.
