Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 0.17%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a negative note on Monday.
Shares of Escorts Kubota(up 4.16 per cent), Bosch(up 1.61 per cent), Bajaj Auto(up 1.52 per cent), Balkrishna Industries(up 0.72 per cent) and Bharat Forge(up 0.56 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, TVS Motor Company(down 2.27 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra(down 1.46 per cent), TIINDIA(down 1.06 per cent), Tata Motors(down 1.03 per cent) and Ashok Leyland(down 0.85 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Auto index closed 0.17 per cent down at 11692.1.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 83.3 points at 15835.35, while the BSE Sensex stood up 326.84 points at 53234.77.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 36 ended in the green, while 14 closed in the red.
Shares of ONGC, Zomato Ltd., IDFC First Bank, Vodafone Idea and ITC were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Motor Gen Fin, Automotive Axle, Marathon Nextgen, FIEM Industries and Silver Touch Tech hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Shekhawati Poly, CMI Ltd, Viceroy Hotels, Jindal Cotex and Parsvnath Dev. hit their fresh 52-week lows.
