Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 0.16%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a negative note on Tuesday.
Shares of MRF(up 1.6 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra(up 1.44 per cent), Bosch(up 1.16 per cent), Eicher Motors(up 0.98 per cent) and Bharat Forge(up 0.96 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Tata Motors(down 3.28 per cent), Balkrishna Industries(down 2.29 per cent), Amara Raja Batteries(down 2.16 per cent), Exide Industries(down 2.04 per cent) and Ashok Leyland(down 0.44 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Auto index closed 0.16 per cent down at 11343.05.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 114.45 points at 17092.2, while the BSE Sensex stood down 382.91 points at 57300.68.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 18 ended in the green, while 31 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, JP Power, Ibull Real Estate and Adani Power were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Ion Exchange, Jagsonpal Pharm, Agri-Tech(India), Godha Cabcon & Insul and SEL Manufact hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Dhani Ibull Ventures, Indiabulls Intgrtd, Geekay Wires, Take Solutions and Repco Home Fin hit their fresh 52-week lows.
