Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 0.15%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a negative note on Thursday.
Shares of TVS Motor Company(up 0.92 per cent), Eicher Motors(up 0.6 per cent), Tata Motors(up 0.3 per cent), Bajaj Auto(up 0.29 per cent) and Hero MotoCorp(up 0.24 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Bharat Forge(down 2.51 per cent), TIINDIA(down 1.16 per cent), Ashok Leyland(down 1.09 per cent), Exide Industries(down 0.91 per cent) and MRF(down 0.79 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Auto index closed 0.15 per cent down at 11492.85.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 17.6 points at 17304.6, while the BSE Sensex stood down 104.67 points at 57892.01.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 21 ended in the green, while 29 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, Adani Power, YES Bank, JP Power and BHEL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Univastu India, IVP Ltd, GeeCee Ventures, Times Guaranty and Precision Metaliks Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Crown Lifters, G R Infraprojects Ltd., Bliss GVS Pharma, RM Drip and Sprinkle and Dev Information Tech hit their fresh 52-week lows.
