Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 0.11%

The Nifty Auto index closed 0.11 per cent down at 10472.45.

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a negative note on Tuesday.

Shares of Eicher Motors(up 3.04 per cent), Maruti Suzuki(up 2.11 per cent), Escorts(up 1.33 per cent), Ashok Leyland(up 1.06 per cent) and Bajaj Auto(up 0.68 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Sona BLW Precision Forgings(down 4.79 per cent), Tata Motors(down 3.02 per cent), Balkrishna Industries(down 1.77 per cent), Hero MotoCorp(down 0.92 per cent) and Bharat Forge(down 0.91 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.


The Nifty Auto index closed 0.11 per cent down at 10472.45.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 61.8 points at 16240.05, while the BSE Sensex stood down 105.82 points at 54364.85.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 19 ended in the green, while 31 closed in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Zomato Ltd., SAIL and Tata Power were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Lancer Container Lin, Dhanvarsha Finvest, Pashupati Cotspin, Global Education and Silver Touch Tech hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Rainbow Childrens Medicare Ltd., Stylam Ind, Ramco Systems, Birla Tyres and Take Solutions hit their fresh 52-week lows.
