Stock market update: Nifty Auto index advances 2.05%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a positive note on Monday.

Shares of Hero MotoCorp(up 5.13 per cent), Exide Industries(up 4.95 per cent), Tata Motors(up 2.96 per cent), Amara Raja Batteries(up 2.91 per cent) and Maruti Suzuki(up 2.24 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Bharat Forge(down 0.72 per cent) and TVS Motor Company(down 0.2 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.


The Nifty Auto index closed 2.05 per cent up at 11881.25.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 52.35 points at 18308.1, while the BSE Sensex stood up 85.88 points at 61308.91.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 34 ended in the green, while 16 closed in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, Alok Industries, JP Power, HFCL and Suzlon Energy were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Vivo Collaboration Solutions Ltd., Salona Cotspin, North Eastern, D K Enterprises Global Ltd. and Khaitan Chem hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Asian Hotels(W), Dilip Buildcon, IGL and Uniinfo Telecom Serv hit their fresh 52-week lows.
