Stock market update: Nifty Auto index advances 1.71%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a positive note on Wednesday.
Shares of TVS Motor Company(up 4.34 per cent), Eicher Motors(up 2.85 per cent), Samvardhana Motherson International(up 2.62 per cent), Sona BLW Precision Forgings(up 2.61 per cent) and Hero MotoCorp(up 2.43 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, MRF(down 0.43 per cent) and Balkrishna Industries(down 0.1 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Auto index closed 1.71 per cent up at 12121.3.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 129.0 points at 17080.7, while the BSE Sensex stood up 346.37 points at 57960.09.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 43 ended in the green, while 6 closed in the red.
Shares of Suzlon Energy, YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, PNB and Zomato Ltd. were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Asian Hotels, Srivasavi Adhesive Tapes Ltd., Ingersoll-Rand, Zen Tech and Faze Three Ltd hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Mirza Intnl, Brightcom Group, Dhanvarsha Finvest, Nidan Laboratories And Healthcare Ltd. and Sanwaria Consumer hit their fresh 52-week lows.
