Stock market update: Nifty Auto index advances 1.7% in a weak market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index traded positive around 10:04AM(IST)on Thursday in a weak market.

TVS Motor Company(up 3.99 per cent), TIINDIA(up 3.57 per cent), Maruti Suzuki(up 2.9 per cent), Hero MotoCorp(up 2.87 per cent) and Ashok Leyland(up 1.98 per cent) were among the top gainers.

Bosch(down 0.28 per cent) were the top losers on the index.


The Nifty Auto index was up 1.7 per cent at 11829.85 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 58.65 points at 17721.35, while the BSE Sensex was down 225.38 points at 59332.95.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 22 were trading in the green, while 28 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, Reliance Power, Suzlon Energy, PNB and TV18 Broadcast were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Garware Poly, Shivalik Bimetal, MMP Industries, Ganga Forging and TV18 Broadcast hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Precision Metaliks Ltd., Dynamic Services & Security Ltd. and DC Infotech hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
