Stock market update: Nifty Auto index advances 1.64%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a positive note on Wednesday.
Shares of Samvardhana Motherson International(up 6.05 per cent), Bajaj Auto(up 5.72 per cent), Hero MotoCorp(up 4.24 per cent), Maruti Suzuki(up 3.58 per cent) and Balkrishna Industries(up 2.42 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Eicher Motors(down 2.71 per cent), Tata Motors(down 0.54 per cent) and TIINDIA(down 0.39 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Auto index closed 1.64 per cent up at 15281.9.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 9.5 points at 19398.5, while the BSE Sensex stood down 33.01 points at 65446.04.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 30 ended in the green, while 20 closed in the red.
Shares of Suzlon Energy, YES Bank, PNB, Reliance Power and BHEL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Genus Pwr Infra, Kore Digital, HPL Electric Power, eMudhra and Ducol Organics & Col hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Penta Gold, Cell Point(India), Vilin Bio Med Ltd., Bombay Metrics Suppl and Bodhi Tree Multimed hit their fresh 52-week lows.
