Stock market update: Nifty Auto index advances 1.35%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a positive note on Thursday.

Shares of Tata Motors(up 3.48 per cent), MRF(up 2.88 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra(up 2.6 per cent), Balkrishna Industries(up 2.43 per cent) and TIINDIA(up 1.74 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Sona BLW Precision Forgings(down 0.3 per cent) and Maruti Suzuki(down 0.27 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.


The Nifty Auto index closed 1.35 per cent up at 12114.1.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 143.1 points at 16132.9, while the BSE Sensex stood up 427.49 points at 54178.46.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 39 ended in the green, while 11 closed in the red.

Shares of Bank of Baroda, SAIL, ONGC, Zomato Ltd. and Vodafone Idea were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of PC Jeweller, Lumax Auto Tech, Rajratan Global, AAA Technologies and Kewal Kiran Clo hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Parsvnath Dev., Suumaya Lifestyle, Andhra Cements, We Win and Aakash Exploration hit their fresh 52-week lows.
