Stock market update: Nifty Auto index advances 1.3%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a positive note on Monday.

Shares of MRF(up 4.0 per cent), Balkrishna Industries(up 2.58 per cent), Bharat Forge(up 2.41 per cent), Eicher Motors(up 2.41 per cent) and Tata Motors(up 2.27 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Escorts Kubota(down 1.66 per cent), Sona BLW Precision Forgings(down 0.3 per cent), TIINDIA(down 0.18 per cent), TVS Motor Company(down 0.13 per cent) and Bajaj Auto(down 0.03 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.


The Nifty Auto index closed 1.3 per cent up at 13443.9.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 85.65 points at 18202.8, while the BSE Sensex stood up 234.79 points at 61185.15.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 33 ended in the green, while 17 closed in the red.

Shares of Bank of Baroda, PNB, Rail Vikas Nigam, Suzlon Energy and JP Power were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Tapi Fruit Processing Ltd., SPL Industries, Magnum Ventures, Dhanlaxmi Bank and Maan Aluminium hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Anmol India, Swastik Pipe Ltd., Kanpur Plastip, KCK Industries Ltd. and Gangotri Text hit their fresh 52-week lows.
