Stock market update: Nifty Auto index advances 1.25%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a positive note on Tuesday.

Shares of TIINDIA(up 7.41 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra(up 2.71 per cent), Ashok Leyland(up 2.62 per cent), TVS Motor Company(up 2.33 per cent) and Bharat Forge(up 1.75 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Sona BLW Precision Forgings(down 2.32 per cent) and Escorts Kubota(down 0.76 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.


The Nifty Auto index closed 1.25 per cent up at 11832.55.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 18.15 points at 15850.2, while the BSE Sensex stood up 16.17 points at 53177.45.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 31 ended in the green, while 19 closed in the red.

Shares of Zomato Ltd., Vodafone Idea, ONGC, Suzlon Energy and SAIL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of De Nora India, Vadilal Ind, Axita Cotton, Maharashtra Seam. and Priti International hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Electrotherm, Sona Hi Sona Jewell, Chambal Fertilisers, Vaxtex Cotfab and GTL Infra hit their fresh 52-week lows.
