Stock market update: Nifty Auto index advances 1.19%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a positive note on Tuesday.
Shares of Bharat Forge(up 3.06 per cent), Tata Motors(up 2.9 per cent), TIINDIA(up 2.24 per cent), Bajaj Auto(up 1.88 per cent) and Hero MotoCorp(up 1.34 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Balkrishna Industries(down 0.24 per cent) and Amara Raja Batteries(down 0.22 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Auto index closed 1.19 per cent up at 10572.9.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 197.9 points at 17315.5, while the BSE Sensex stood up 696.81 points at 57989.3.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 42 ended in the green, while 8 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, IDFC First Bank, PNB and SAIL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Madras Fert, Ganesh Housing, Dangee Dums, Orbit Exports and NIIT hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Gateway Distriparks Ltd., Future Retail, FutureLifestyleFash, Future Enterprises and Future Supply Chain hit their fresh 52-week lows.
