Stock market update: Nifty Auto index advances 0.97% in a weak market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index traded positive around 11:10AM(IST)on Thursday in a weak market.

Balkrishna Industries Ltd.(up 2.71 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(up 2.3 per cent), Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd.(up 1.97 per cent), Bajaj Auto Ltd.(up 1.67 per cent) and Exide Industries Ltd.(up 1.56 per cent) were among the top gainers.

Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.(down 1.86 per cent) were the top losers on the index.


The Nifty Auto index was up 0.97 per cent at 22020.5 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 24.21 points at 22908.7, while the BSE Sensex was down 159.62 points at 75779.56.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 31 were trading in the green, while 19 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, Suzlon Energy, YES Bank, RVNL and NHPC were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Denta Water and Infr, Shree Rama News, Nitiraj Engineers, Hexaware Technologie and Blue Coast Hotel hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Suratwwala Business, Par Drugs & Chemical, Jubilant Agri & Cons, AGS Transact Tech and Dolphin Offshore hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
