Stock market update: Nifty Auto index advances 0.77%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a positive note on Friday.
Shares of Eicher Motors(up 6.49 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra(up 1.97 per cent), Tata Motors(up 0.85 per cent), Hero MotoCorp(up 0.79 per cent) and Samvardhana Motherson International(up 0.64 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Bharat Forge(down 2.65 per cent), Bosch(down 2.54 per cent), Sona BLW Precision Forgings(down 2.42 per cent), Balkrishna Industries(down 1.15 per cent) and MRF(down 0.69 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Auto index closed 0.77 per cent up at 13910.5.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 17.8 points at 18314.8, while the BSE Sensex stood up 123.38 points at 62027.9.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 23 ended in the green, while 27 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, Zomato Ltd., YES Bank, Indian Railway Finance Corporation Ltd. and Tata Steel were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Onward Tech, Shera Energy Ltd., Naga Dhunseri Group, Elecon Engg Co and Zensar Tech hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while SITI Networks, De Neers Tools, BEML Land Assets, SEL Manufact and Virinchi hit their fresh 52-week lows.
