Stock market update: Nifty Auto index advances 0.72% in a weak market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index traded positive around 10:59AM(IST)on Thursday in a weak market.

Tata Motors Ltd.(up 4.89 per cent), Tata Motors Ltd.(up 4.88 per cent), MRF Ltd.(up 1.41 per cent) and Bajaj Auto Ltd.(up 0.37 per cent) were among the top gainers.

Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd.(down 0.81 per cent), Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(down 0.62 per cent), Apollo Tyres Ltd.(down 0.6 per cent), Balkrishna Industries Ltd.(down 0.48 per cent) and Eicher Motors Ltd.(down 0.46 per cent) were the top losers on the index.


The Nifty Auto index was up 0.72 per cent at 25492.4 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 90.75 points at 24322.75, while the BSE Sensex was down 367.68 points at 79781.2.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 21 were trading in the green, while 29 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, IFCI, Suzlon Energy, IDBI Bank and MMTC were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of STC India, MMTC, RPP Infra Proj, Capital Trust and Worth Peripherals hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Supreme Infra, IndInfravit Trust, 3rd Rock MultiMedia and GIR Natureview hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
