Stock market update: Nifty Auto index advances 0.42%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a positive note on Wednesday.
Shares of Eicher Motors(up 3.3 per cent), Bajaj Auto(up 2.72 per cent), TVS Motor Company(up 2.07 per cent), MRF(up 1.31 per cent) and Amara Raja Batteries(up 0.9 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Ashok Leyland(down 1.42 per cent), Exide Industries(down 0.89 per cent), Tata Motors(down 0.87 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra(down 0.72 per cent) and TIINDIA(down 0.37 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Auto index closed 0.42 per cent up at 10829.55.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 19.65 points at 17213.6, while the BSE Sensex stood down 90.99 points at 57806.49.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 20 ended in the green, while 30 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, Suzlon Energy, YES Bank, GMR Infra and PNB were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Shiva Mills, HB Stockholding, Hindcon Chemicals, Supriya Lifescience Ltd. and Manaksia Ltd hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Dynamic Services & Security Ltd., HEC Infra Projects, JTL Infra, Gillette India and Mas Fin Services hit their fresh 52-week lows.
