Stock market update: Nifty Auto index advances 0.29%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a positive note on Thursday.
Shares of Bharat Forge(up 4.1 per cent), Bosch(up 2.14 per cent), Eicher Motors(up 1.92 per cent), Samvardhana Motherson International(up 0.89 per cent) and Balkrishna Industries(up 0.65 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Sona BLW Precision Forgings(down 2.43 per cent), MRF(down 1.93 per cent), TIINDIA(down 1.55 per cent), Tata Motors(down 0.69 per cent) and Hero MotoCorp(down 0.05 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Auto index closed 0.29 per cent up at 12908.15.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 48.85 points at 18609.35, while the BSE Sensex stood up 160.0 points at 62570.68.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 27 ended in the green, while 23 closed in the red.
Shares of YES Bank, PNB, Central Bank, Suzlon Energy and Bank of Baroda were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Skipper Ltd, Dharmaj Crop Guard Ltd., Central Bank, Punjab Sind Bank and Adroit Infotech hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Vaxtex Cotfab, DJ Mediaprint & Logi, Ambani Organics, Osia Hyper Retail and South West Pinnacle hit their fresh 52-week lows.
