Stock market update: Nifty Auto index advances 0.2%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a positive note on Thursday.
Shares of Sona BLW Precision Forgings Ltd.(up 4.33 per cent), TVS Motor Company Ltd.(up 2.14 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(up 1.62 per cent), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.(up 1.22 per cent) and Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(up 1.18 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Bajaj Auto Ltd.(down 3.42 per cent), Eicher Motors Ltd.(down 1.85 per cent), Tube Investments of India Ltd.(down 1.27 per cent), Tata Motors Ltd.(down 0.82 per cent) and Bharat Forge Ltd.(down 0.11 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Auto index closed 0.2 per cent up at 20412.4.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 31.65 points at 21982.8, while the BSE Sensex stood up 195.42 points at 72500.3.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 32 ended in the green, while 18 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, PNB, GMR Infra and Union Bank India were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Rajshree Polypack, Paisalo Digital, Juniper Hotels, STEL Holdings and Ingersoll-Rand hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Vibhor Steel Tubes, Capital Small Financ, Debock Sales & Mktg, Radiant Cash Manage and Lords Chloro hit their fresh 52-week lows.
