Stock market update: Nifty Auto index advances 0.18%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a positive note on Friday.
Shares of Sona BLW Precision Forgings Ltd.(up 5.93 per cent), Balkrishna Industries Ltd.(up 2.34 per cent), Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd.(up 1.36 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(up 1.03 per cent) and Ashok Leyland Ltd.(up 0.58 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Tube Investments of India Ltd.(down 1.79 per cent), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.(down 1.05 per cent), Bajaj Auto Ltd.(down 0.73 per cent), Eicher Motors Ltd.(down 0.62 per cent) and TVS Motor Company Ltd.(down 0.6 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Auto index closed 0.18 per cent up at 20621.35.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 4.75 points at 22212.7, while the BSE Sensex stood down 15.44 points at 73142.8.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 24 ended in the green, while 26 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Jio Financial Servic, NHPC and Indus Towers were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Yasho Industries, NDR Auto Components, SML Isuzu, Tarmat Ltd and Khaitan(India)hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Vibhor Steel Tubes, Digidrive Distributo, Polyplex Corp., Hinduja Global and Vaxtex Cotfab hit their fresh 52-week lows.
