Stock market update: Nifty Auto index advances 0.06%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a positive note on Wednesday.
Shares of TIINDIA(up 2.49 per cent), Eicher Motors(up 1.62 per cent), Balkrishna Industries(up 0.76 per cent), MRF(up 0.73 per cent) and Mahindra & Mahindra(up 0.54 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Hero MotoCorp(down 1.78 per cent), Bharat Forge(down 1.31 per cent), TVS Motor Company(down 1.31 per cent), Bosch(down 0.95 per cent) and Ashok Leyland(down 0.73 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Auto index closed 0.06 per cent up at 12537.35.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 148.8 points at 16858.6, while the BSE Sensex stood down 509.24 points at 56598.28.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 18 ended in the green, while 32 closed in the red.
Shares of Suzlon Energy, Vodafone Idea, PNB, Tata Steel and YES Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Liberty Shoes, Sreeleather, Jay Jalaram Technologies Ltd., Shivalik Bimetal and Sundaram Finance hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Jakharia Fabric, Morepen Labs, Atal Realtech, Sportking India and Dhanvarsha Finvest hit their fresh 52-week lows.
