Stock market update: Nifty Auto index 2.13%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a note on Friday.

Shares of Apollo Tyres Ltd.(up 0.37 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(down 3.6 per cent), Exide Industries Ltd.(down 3.05 per cent), TVS Motor Company Ltd.(down 2.77 per cent), Bosch Ltd.(down 2.7 per cent) and Tata Motors Ltd.(down 2.69 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.


The Nifty Auto index closed 2.13 per cent at 22580.00.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 364.21 points at 23587.5, while the BSE Sensex stood 1176.46 points at 78041.59.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 4 ended in the green, while 46 closed in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, Zomato, Vishal Mega Mart, JP Power and YES Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of GIC, Hisar Metal Ind, Sambhaav Media, Mohit Inds and Salzer Electro hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Balaxi Pharma, Sanghi Ind, Digjam, Odigma Consultancy and Bharat Gears hit their fresh 52-week lows.
