Stock market update: Nifty Auto index 1.52% in an upbeat market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index traded around 10:55AM(IST)on Thursday in an upbeat market.
Ashok Leyland Ltd.(up 3.38 per cent), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.(up 2.86 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(up 2.73 per cent), TVS Motor Company Ltd.(up 1.83 per cent) and Eicher Motors Ltd.(up 1.45 per cent) were among the top gainers.
Apollo Tyres Ltd.(down 1.28 per cent), MRF Ltd.(down 0.57 per cent), Exide Industries Ltd.(down 0.38 per cent) and Balkrishna Industries Ltd.(down 0.18 per cent) were the top losers on the index.
The Nifty Auto index was 1.52 per cent at 23492.10 at the time of writing this report.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 172.0 points at 23914.9, while the BSE Sensex was 593.73 points at 79101.14.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 39 were trading in the green, while 11 were in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, Sagility India, Vishal Mega Mart, Suzlon Energy and Reliance Power were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Transrail Lighting L, Lords Chloro, Ventive Hospitality, Interarch Building and Lloyds Metals hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Salasar Techno Engg, Eurotex Ind, Tree House Edu, Filatex Fashions and Sezal Glass hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
