Stock market update: Nifty Auto index 1.43%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a note on Monday.

Shares of Ashok Leyland Ltd.(up 1.31 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, TVS Motor Company Ltd.(down 2.77 per cent), Tata Motors Ltd.(down 2.25 per cent), Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd.(down 2.02 per cent), Exide Industries Ltd.(down 1.71 per cent) and Bajaj Auto Ltd.(down 1.67 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.


The Nifty Auto index closed 1.43 per cent at 22768.25.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 168.5 points at 23644.9, while the BSE Sensex stood 450.94 points at 78248.13.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 11 ended in the green, while 39 closed in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, Zomato, Greaves Cotton, YES Bank and PNB were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Worth Peripherals, Bajaj Holdings, Laxmi Goldorna House, Sundaram Brake and Crisil hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while DAM Capital Advisors, Balaji Amines, Odigma Consultancy, Concord Enviro Syste and Hardwyn India hit their fresh 52-week lows.
