NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a note on Monday.
Shares of Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(up 2.81 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(up 1.42 per cent), Ashok Leyland Ltd.(up 1.24 per cent), TVS Motor Company Ltd.(up 0.83 per cent) and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.(up 0.8 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Bharat Forge Ltd.(down 1.83 per cent), Exide Industries Ltd.(down 0.87 per cent), Apollo Tyres Ltd.(down 0.69 per cent), Tata Motors Ltd.(down 0.31 per cent) and Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd.(down 0.25 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Auto index closed 0.56 per cent at 23043.85.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 78.91 points at 23453.8, while the BSE Sensex stood 241.3 points at 77339.01.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 21 ended in the green, while 29 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, Suzlon Energy, NALCO, YES Bank and Zomato were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Garware Tech, Banco Products, KRN Heat Exchanger, Nalwa Sons Invst and Orient Technologies hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Honasa Consumer, IGL, Sanghvi Movers, Ahlada Engineers and Valiant Organics hit their fresh 52-week lows.
