Stock market update: Nifty Auto index 0.48%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a note on Friday.
Shares of Balkrishna Industries Ltd.(up 1.48 per cent), Apollo Tyres Ltd.(up 1.26 per cent), MRF Ltd.(up 1.04 per cent), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.(up 0.95 per cent) and Ashok Leyland Ltd.(up 0.85 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Exide Industries Ltd.(down 1.38 per cent), Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd.(down 0.41 per cent), Bharat Forge Ltd.(down 0.31 per cent) and TVS Motor Company Ltd.(down 0.08 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Auto index closed 0.48 per cent at 23773.10.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 219.6 points at 24768.3, while the BSE Sensex stood 843.16 points at 82133.12.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 42 ended in the green, while 8 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, IRB Infra Dev., JP Power and Hind Const Co were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Orbit Exports, DCM Ltd, Rudrabhishek Ent, United Nilgiri Tea and Siyaram Silk hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Odigma Consultancy, Ecos(India)Mobilit, WABCO India, Rajratan Global and IndusInd Bank hit their fresh 52-week lows.
