Stock market update: Mining stocks up as market rises

NEW DELHI: Mining shares closed higher in the Monday's session.

NMDC Ltd(up 1.56%), MOIL(up 1.45%), Orissa Minerals Development Company(up 1.17%), KIOCL(up 0.89%), Ashapura Minechem(up 0.87%), 20 Microns(up 0.61%), Coal India(up 0.33%) and Gujarat Mineral Dvpt Corporation(up 0.13%) stood among the top gainers.

Aro Granite Industries(down 2.27%), Lexus Granito(down 2.09%), Oriental Trimex(down 1.21%), Pokarna(down 0.40%) and Madhav Marbles and Granites(down 0.11%) were among the top losers of the day.


The NSE Nifty50 index ended 241.75 points up at 18101.2, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 846.94 points at 60747.31.

Mahindra & Mahindra(up 3.59%), Tata Consultancy(up 3.38%), HCL Technologies(up 3.35%), IndusInd Bank(up 3.11%), Tech Mahindra(up 2.95%), SBI Life(up 2.94%), Bharti Airtel(up 2.94%), Wipro(up 2.57%), Infosys(up 2.48%) and Reliance Industries(up 2.36%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Titan Company Ltd(down 2.11%), Bajaj Finserv(down 1.14%), Bajaj Auto(down 0.59%), HDFC LIFE INSURANCE(down 0.52%), Grasim Industries(down 0.42%) and Maruti Suzuki(down 0.07%) closed in the red.
