Stock market update: Mining stocks up as market rises

NEW DELHI: Mining shares closed higher in the Thursday's session.

Pokarna(up 5.56%), Gujarat Mineral Dvpt Corporation(up 2.92%), Aro Granite Industries(up 1.56%), Coal India(up 1.16%), Oriental Trimex(up 0.96%), MOIL(up 0.32%), 20 Microns(up 0.24%), Madhav Marbles and Granites(up 0.19%) and NMDC Ltd(up 0.07%) stood among the top gainers.

Orissa Minerals Development Company(down 1.48%), Ashapura Minechem(down 1.07%) and KIOCL(down 0.68%) were among the top losers of the day.


The NSE Nifty50 index ended 47.1 points up at 17516.85, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 157.45 points at 58807.13.

ITC(up 4.65%), Larsen & Toubro(up 3.0%), Asian Paints(up 2.26%), UPL Ltd(up 1.94%), Reliance Industries(up 1.59%), Eicher Motors(up 1.49%), Britannia Industries(up 1.35%), Mahindra & Mahindra(up 1.23%), Hero MotoCorp(up 1.22%) and Coal India(up 1.16%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, HDFC Bank(down 1.73%), Titan Company Ltd(down 1.35%), Nestle India(down 1.0%), NTPC(down 0.94%), Power Grid Corporation of India(down 0.78%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation(down 0.71%), SBI Life(down 0.7%), Tata Consultancy(down 0.69%), Divis Laboratories(down 0.61%) and State Bank of India(down 0.59%) closed in the red.
