Stock market update: Mining stocks down as market falls

NEW DELHI: Mining shares closed lower in the Monday's session.
Lexus Granito(up 4.96%), Oriental Trimex(up 1.61%), Gujarat Mineral Dvpt Corporation(up 1.17%), NMDC Ltd(up 0.36%), Coal India(up 0.34%) and Ashapura Minechem(up 0.04%) stood among the top gainers.
KIOCL(down 5.13%), Pokarna(down 3.98%), 20 Microns(down 3.57%), Orissa Minerals Development Company(down 2.96%), Aro Granite Industries(down 2.84%), MOIL(down 1.37%) and Madhav Marbles and Granites(down 1.09%) were among the top losers of the day.
The NSE Nifty50 index ended 302.7 points down at 17213.6, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 1023.63 points at 57621.19.
Power Grid Corporation of India(up 1.88%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation(up 1.47%), NTPC(up 0.71%), Tata Steel(up 0.57%), Shree Cement(up 0.57%), State Bank of India(up 0.56%), UltraTech Cement(up 0.4%) and Coal India(up 0.34%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.
On the other hand, TATA CONSUMER PRODUCTS(down 3.95%), HDFC Bank(down 3.66%), HDFC LIFE INSURANCE(down 3.38%), Larsen & Toubro(down 3.26%), Bajaj Finance(down 3.18%), Britannia Industries(down 3.18%), Bajaj Finserv(down 3.05%), HDFC(down 3.0%), Kotak Mahindra Bank(down 2.96%) and Hero MotoCorp(down 2.71%) closed in the red.
