Stock market update: Mining stocks down as market falls

NEW DELHI: Mining shares closed lower in the Monday's session.

Pokarna Ltd.(up 5.93%) stood among the top gainers.

MOIL Ltd.(down 7.51%), Sandur Manganese & Iron Ores Ltd.(down 7.13%), Lexus Granito(India)Ltd.(down 6.96%), Aro Granite Industries Ltd.(down 6.54%), The Orissa Minerals Development Company Ltd.(down 5.72%), Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation Ltd.(down 5.66%), Ashapura Minechem Ltd.(down 5.37%), KIOCL Ltd.(down 5.37%), Oriental Trimex Ltd.(down 4.95%) and NMDC Ltd.(down 4.93%) were among the top losers of the day.


The NSE Nifty50 index ended 662.11 points down at 24055.6, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 2222.55 points at 78759.4.

Hindustan Unilever Ltd.(up 0.87%), Nestle India Ltd.(up 0.64%), HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd.(up 0.5%) and Tata Consumer Products Ltd.(up 0.49%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Tata Motors Ltd.(down 7.32%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd.(down 6.02%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd.(down 5.93%), Tata Steel Ltd.(down 5.31%), Hindalco Industries Ltd.(down 5.21%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.(down 4.32%), State Bank of India(down 4.27%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.(down 4.13%), JSW Steel Ltd.(down 3.98%) and Adani Enterprises Ltd.(down 3.89%) closed in the red.
