Stock market update: FMCG stocks down as market rises

NEW DELHI: FMCG shares closed lower in the Tuesday's session.

Tasty Bite Eatables Ltd.(up 2.69%), Hatsun Agro Products Ltd.(up 1.93%), Colgate-Palmolive(India)Ltd.(up 1.78%), Prataap Snacks Ltd.(up 1.78%), Nestle India Ltd.(up 1.36%), JHS Svendgaard Laboratories Ltd.(up 1.31%), Godrej Consumer Products Ltd.(up 1.20%), Dabur India Ltd.(up 1.04%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd.(up 0.80%) and Zydus Wellness Ltd.(up 0.77%) stood among the top gainers.

Varun Beverages Ltd.(down 4.70%), LT Foods Ltd.(down 2.91%), Gopal Snacks Ltd.(down 2.44%), Vadilal Industries Ltd.(down 2.22%), Adani Wilmar Ltd.(down 2.15%), Umang Dairies Ltd.(down 2.12%), Gillette India Ltd.(down 1.98%), Jyothy Labs Ltd.(down 1.90%), Nakoda Group Of Industries Ltd.(down 1.86%) and Dangee Dums Ltd.(down 1.31%) were among the top losers of the day.


The NSE Nifty50 index ended 5.8 points down at 22547.55, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 147.71 points at 74602.12.

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(up 2.54%), Bharti Airtel Ltd.(up 2.51%), Bajaj Finance Ltd.(up 1.61%), Nestle India Ltd.(up 1.36%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.(up 1.07%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd.(up 0.94%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd.(up 0.93%), HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd.(up 0.84%), Titan Company Ltd.(up 0.82%) and Hindustan Unilever Ltd.(up 0.8%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Hindalco Industries Ltd.(down 3.5%), Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd.(down 3.13%), Trent Ltd.(down 2.1%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.(down 1.58%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(down 1.46%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.(down 1.32%), Wipro Ltd.(down 1.28%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(down 1.26%), Tech Mahindra Ltd.(down 1.23%) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd.(down 1.02%) closed in the red.
