Stock market update: FMCG stocks down as market falls

NEW DELHI: FMCG shares closed lower in the Friday's session.
Heritage Foods(up 8.53%), Parag Milk(up 4.28%), Dodla Dairy(up 3.53%), Bikaji Foods International(up 1.76%), Hatsun Agro Product Ltd(up 1.42%), Bajaj Consumer(up 1.07%), Emami(up 1.04%), JHS Svendgaard Laboratories(up 0.91%), Sheetal Cool Products(up 0.75%) and Vadilal Industries(up 0.64%) stood among the top gainers.
Umang Dairies(down 3.70%), Hindustan Unilever(down 3.67%), TATA CONSUMER PRODUCTS(down 2.38%), Dabur India(down 2.30%), Tasty Bite Eatables(down 2.29%), Jyothy Labs(down 2.21%), P & G Hygiene(down 1.63%), Varun Beverages(down 1.53%), Zydus Wellness(down 1.42%) and Nakoda Group(down 1.22%) were among the top losers of the day.
The NSE Nifty50 index ended 234.15 points down at 19745.0, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 887.64 points at 66684.26.
Larsen & Toubro(up 3.88%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation(up 2.0%), NTPC(up 1.14%), State Bank of India(up 0.83%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation(up 0.7%), Kotak Mahindra Bank(up 0.68%), Tata Motors(up 0.66%), Divis Laboratories(up 0.59%), Hero MotoCorp(up 0.48%) and Apollo Hospitals Enterprises(up 0.18%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.
On the other hand, Infosys(down 8.13%), Tech Mahindra(down 4.62%), Hindustan Unilever(down 3.67%), HCL Technologies(down 3.49%), Wipro(down 3.1%), Reliance Industries(down 3.1%), Tata Consultancy(down 2.74%), TATA CONSUMER PRODUCTS(down 2.38%), HDFC LIFE INSURANCE(down 2.08%) and SBI Life(down 1.78%) closed in the red.
