Stock market update: Fertilisers stocks up as market falls

NEW DELHI: Fertilisers shares closed lower in the Thursday's session.
Madras Fertlizers(up 19.95%), Fertilizers & Chemicals Tranvancore(up 19.94%), Agro Phos(up 12.76%), Aries Agro(up 11.41%), National Fertilizer(up 10.89%), Khaitan Chemicals & Fertilizers(up 8.21%), Mangalore Chemicals & Fertilizers(up 6.49%), G S F C(up 6.09%), Southern Petrochemicals Industries(up 5.71%) and Nagarjuna Fertilizers & Chem(up 4.52%) stood among the top gainers.
KRISHANA(down 0.51%) and Madhya Bharat Agro Products(down 0.10%) were among the top losers of the day.
The NSE Nifty50 index ended 245.4 points down at 18414.9, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 878.88 points at 61799.03.
Britannia Industries(up 1.26%), Hero MotoCorp(up 0.86%), SBI Life(up 0.3%), NTPC(up 0.29%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(up 0.19%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation(up 0.11%) and Mahindra & Mahindra(up 0.04%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.
On the other hand, Tech Mahindra(down 3.98%), Titan Company Ltd(down 2.64%), Infosys(down 2.46%), HDFC(down 2.09%), Eicher Motors(down 1.96%), JSW Steel(down 1.93%), Grasim Industries(down 1.92%), ITC(down 1.9%), Tata Steel(down 1.86%) and Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone(down 1.84%) closed in the red.
