Stock market update: Fertilisers stocks down as market falls

NEW DELHI: Fertilisers shares closed lower in the Wednesday's session.
Madhya Bharat Agro Products Ltd.(up 4.97%), Coromandel International Ltd.(up 0.85%), Aries Agro Ltd.(up 0.20%) and Deepak Fertilisers & Petrochemicals Corporation Ltd.(up 0.01%) stood among the top gainers.
Zuari Agro Chemicals Ltd.(down 4.88%), Sikko Industries Ltd.(down 4.58%), The Fertilisers and Chemicals Travancore Ltd.(down 4.11%), Agro Phos India Ltd.(down 3.34%), Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers Ltd.(down 3.33%), Madras Fertilizers Ltd.(down 3.17%), National Fertilizers Ltd.(down 3.07%), Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers & Chemicals Ltd.(down 2.80%), Chambal Fertilisers & Chemicals Ltd.(down 2.78%) and Khaitan Chemicals & Fertilizers Ltd.(down 2.36%) were among the top losers of the day.
The NSE Nifty50 index ended 247.2 points down at 21951.15, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 790.34 points at 72304.88.
Hindustan Unilever Ltd.(up 0.68%), Infosys Ltd.(up 0.46%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(up 0.36%) and Bharti Airtel Ltd.(up 0.12%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.
On the other hand, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.(down 4.43%), Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd.(down 3.91%), Eicher Motors Ltd.(down 3.48%), Bajaj Auto Ltd.(down 3.25%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.(down 3.03%), IndusInd Bank Ltd.(down 2.94%), Wipro Ltd.(down 2.59%), Adani Enterprises Ltd.(down 2.53%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd.(down 2.52%) and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(down 2.51%) closed in the red.
