Share market update: Most active stocks of the day in terms of traded value

The NSE Nifty index closed 207.41 points up at 22544.7

Retail and banking stocks rose 0.5 per cent and 0.7 per cent, respectively.

NEW DELHI: HDFC Bank(Rs. 2779.26 crore), BSE(Rs. 2105.68 crore), Infosys(Rs. 1814.04 crore), Castrol India(Rs. 1797.57 crore), RIL(Rs. 1734.79 crore), ICICI Bank(Rs. 1454.30 crore), Tata Steel(Rs. 1184.93 crore), Tata Motors(Rs. 1089.67 crore), CreditAccess Grameen(Rs. 1081.11 crore) and M&M(Rs. 1014.13 crore) were among the most traded securities on the National Stock Exchange in Thursday's session.

The NSE Nifty index ended the session 207.41 points up at 22544.7, while BSE Sensex rose 609.86 points to 74340.09.

In the Nifty index, Asian Paints Ltd.(up 4.79 per cent), Coal India Ltd.(up 3.90 per cent), Hindalco Industries Ltd.(up 3.75 per cent), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd.(up 3.60 per cent) and NTPC Ltd.(up 3.59 per cent) stood among the top gainers.

On the other hand, Tech Mahindra Ltd.(down 2.26 per cent), Bharat Electronics Ltd.(down 0.72 per cent), Trent Ltd.(down 0.72 per cent), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd.(down 0.59 per cent) and HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd.(down 0.48 per cent) were among the top losers of the day.
