Sensex rises! But these stocks fell 5% or more in Wednesday's session

In the Nifty pack, 37 stocks closed in the green, while 13 stocks ended in the red.

NEW DELHI: Several stocks plunged in excess of 5 per cent in Mumbai trading on Wednesday even as equity benchmark BSE Sensex traded 574.35 points up at 57037.50 amid brisk buying in frontline bluechip counters.

On the BSE, NDA Securities(down 18.16 per cent), Octaware Technologie(down 10.00 per cent), Paos Industries(down 10.00 per cent), Adishakti Loha and Ispat Ltd.(down 9.99 per cent) and Nivaka Fashions(down 9.95 per cent) stood among the top losers in today's trade.

The index closed 177.9 points up at 17136.55.

On the BSE, Octaware Technologie, Nivaka Fashions, INEOS Styrolution, Kanungo Financiers and Tilak Ventures (PP)hit their fresh 52-week lows, while Dhanlaxmi Fab, MRPL, Texmaco Rail, Chennai Petro and Meghmani Finechem Ltd. touched their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade.
