Sensex rises! But these stocks fell 5% or more in Wednesday's session

In the Nifty pack, 30 stocks closed in the green, while 20 stocks ended in the red.

NEW DELHI: Several stocks plunged in excess of 5 per cent in Mumbai trading on Wednesday even as equity benchmark BSE Sensex traded 592.93 points up at 76617.44 amid brisk buying in frontline bluechip counters.

On the BSE, Punjab Sind Bank(down 12.23 per cent), Sainik Finance(down 11.33 per cent), Central Bank(down 10.87 per cent), Franklin Leasing & Finance(down 10.00 per cent) and Mediaone Global Entertainment(down 9.98 per cent) stood among the top losers in today's trade.

In the Nifty pack, 30 stocks closed in the green, while 20 stocks ended in the red.


The index closed 166.65 points up at 23332.35.

On the BSE, Punjab Sind Bank, Central Bank, Kay Power & Paper, DB(Intl)Stock and AGS Transact Tech hit their fresh 52-week lows, while Sharp Investments, NACL Industries, Vadilal Ind, Ascensive Educare and Equilateral Enterprises Ltd. touched their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade.
