NEW DELHI: Several stocks plunged in excess of 5 per cent in Mumbai trading on Wednesday even as equity benchmark BSE Sensex traded 701.63 points up at 72038.43 amid brisk buying in frontline bluechip counters.

On the BSE, Sanmit Infra(down 19.93 per cent), JLAInfraville&Shop(down 13.78 per cent), Vedant Asset(down 10.21 per cent), Simbhaoli Sugars(down 10.20 per cent) and Shree Hari Chem(down 9.90 per cent) stood among the top losers in today's trade.

In the Nifty pack, 40 stocks closed in the green, while 10 stocks ended in the red.


The index closed 213.4 points up at 21654.75.

On the BSE, Sanmit Infra, Bajel Projects, Akshar Spintex, IFL Enterprises and Raj Rayon hit their fresh 52-week lows, while Global Vectra, Wonder Fibromats, Triveni Enterprises, Shashank Traders and Nilachal Refrac touched their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade.
